Blog: Science, Stars and the Aldama Playground

Join us this Friday to view the stars with the Los Angeles Astronomical Society at Aldama Elementary from 6:00-8:00 p.m.

Over the past several weeks the Aldama Elementary School PTA's Science and Math Committee has been working very hard to get the new science lab ready for our students. It is not yet open, however committee chairs Angelina Badillo and Cecilia Pascuzzo are already looking for ways to get our students excited about science and astrology. This Friday volunteers from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society (LAAS) will bring their telescopes and their knowledge to Aldama's Star Party, from 6-8 p.m. and the community is invited.

This event has two goals. The first is to bring a wonderful educational experience to enhance the students understanding of the science of astronomy. This event is free and open to the community. The second goal is to raise funds to purchase tables for our new science lab. The school does not have extra tables or the funds to purchase the tables. Unfortunately, without tables for students to preform experiments, we cannot open the science lab. So bring your appetite with you as refreshments will be sold.

This is a great opportunity to learn about the stars and the solar system, as well as an opportunity to look at the stars up close and right in our own community. So bring your children to experience what is sure to be a educational and fun night.
