Patch Blog: The Home-Improvement Chronicles--The Siding
Milla Goldenberg shares photos from weeks 9-12 of the full exterior remodel of her 1920s bungalow.
As Operation: Home Remodel enters its third month (oh, God, when will it end?), I can almost see the finish line — at least for this phase. (Phase 2 is building the deck.)
I'm happy with how things have gone so far, but not at the pace of the work, which is not to imply that my crew is lazy. In fact, I've seen them steadily work 10-hour days six days a week, yet the project has still gone far overbudget and past its deadline.
Finishing the siding certainly added to the delay, as there was a two-week lead time in getting materials in addition to a major blunder concerning the bottom trim that had to be corrected. Plus, all that mitering, nailing, hammering, patching, sanding — and you get the picture.

Thankfully, it was worth it in the end, just as everyone said it would be, producing a mighty fine-looking log cabin, if I may say so myself. Evidence is in the photos; please see for yourselves.
