DUI Checkpoints Planned Around Los Angeles This Weekend
The Los Angeles Police Department has planned numerous checkpoints across Los Angeles this weekend.

LOS ANGELES, CA — It's a busy week for DUI checkpoints in Los Angeles this weekend.
The Los Angeles Police Department has DUI checkpoints scheduled all over the city Friday nighand through the weekend.
"The deterrent effect of High Visibility Enforcement using both DUI checkpoints and DUI Saturation Patrols has proven to lower the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug impaired traffic collisions," according to the Los Angeles Police Department. "Research shows that collisions involving an impaired driver can be reduced by up to 20 percent when well-publicized proactive DUI operations are conducted routinely."

because someone failed to designate a sober driver. Year to date, LAPD officers have investigated 326 DUI related collisions which have seriously injured nine community members.
