Fire Chars Two Acres Behind Occidental College

The cause of a fire was behind Occidental College is under investigation.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A fire charred two acres behind Occidental College in Eagle Rock Thursday evening, but no one was injured.

The blaze was reported at 9:45 p.m. south of the swimming pool on campus, which is located at 1922 N. Campus Road.

More than 90 firefighters and a helicopter were called to the scene and faced challenges to reach the blaze, said Margaret Stewart with the Lost Angeles Fire Department.

It took an hour and 21 minutes to knock down the fire, she said. Firefighters were expected to remain on scene until at least midnight to conduct mop-up operations.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.
