In addition, WORKS is offering a special raffle ($2 per ticket) with extraordinary prizes such as airline tickets, massage oils, gift certificates to local boutiques and restaurants, bottles of wine, a photo shoot headshot session, reiki healing and much, much more! Raffle ticket holders do not have to be present to win. Raffle tickets may be purchased prior to, or at the event. As a leader in affordable housing and food justice, WORKS is actively influencing the Los Angeles Agricultural Working Group to promote the creation of healthy food access programs as a part of affordable housing developments.
In just three years, WORKS' Earth Cultures food justice programs have:
- Distributed more than 200 tons of organic produce.
- Served 1,000+ families at "pop-up" organic produce markets.
- Produced hundreds of nutrition and culinary classes led by local chefs re-imagining favorite cultural dishes with nutritious organic ingredients; experienced by children, teens and adults.
- Planted numerous community garden beds and plots that feature a variety of heirloom vegetables and herbs.
- Supported resident-led campaigns that have resulted in tangible wins; including the revamping of an elementary school nutrition program.
Thank you in advance for your support! We look forward to seeing you at The York on Tuesday, September 3rd!
