Man Killed In Highland Park Hit & Run

A man in his 70s was struck by a an SUV and killed in Highland Park. The suspected hit and run driver was quickly arrested.

LOS ANGELES, CA — A man in his 70s was fatally injured by an SUV Tuesday while crossing a street in the Highland Park area of Los Angeles, and police arrested a man suspected of being the hit-and-run motorist.

The pedestrian, who was struck about 5:50 a.m. while in a crosswalk at Avenue 54 and York Boulevard, died at a hospital, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was withheld, pending notification of his relatives.

Police believe the man was hit by a Chevrolet Trailblazer, and the investigation led detectives to a man, who was detained for questioning and later arrested on suspicion of felony hit-and-run, police said. The suspect's name was not immediately released.
