• 2 arrested after alleged Ulta Beauty thefts in Hollister and Gilroy (ksbw.com) — Hollister police arrested two people suspected of organized retail theft after fragrance and clothing items were allegedly stolen from Ulta Beauty in Gilroy and Hollister, plus Old Navy merchandise found in a car. Officers recovered more than a dozen fragrance bottles and over $1,400 in goods from the Hollister store, and are coordinating with Gilroy police and Old Navy for further investigation. 
• Civil Grand Jury blames security woes at 2025 Hollister biker rally on poor planning (benitolink.com) — Hollister’s 2025 Independence Rally faced serious security and budgeting problems, according to the San Benito County Civil Grand Jury, which faulted late planning, questionable security staffing, and unclear accounting. The report urges earlier budgeting, transparent cost reporting, and clearer rules for ad hoc committees before this year’s July 3–4 rally, and requires a formal city response within 90 days.
