ECHO PARK, CA — A crash Sunday on the Hollywood (101) Freeway in the Echo Park area left four lanes temporarily blocked. It occurred on the southbound 101 just north of Alvarado Street around 7:15 p.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. The crash shut down the numbers 2, 3, 4 and 5 lanes, the CHP reported. A SigAlert was issued by the CHP at 7:35 p.m. There was no immediate word on injuries.City News Service

On this week&rsquo;s Jam&rsquo; n Java...Robby Robinson is taking us on a musical joyride back to the 1960s.
When it comes to genre-defying music...the 1960s had it all. Perhaps this is why the music of the 1960s remains timeless.
This music is 60 years old...yet hasn&rsquo;t aged a day...and never will.
The music of the 1960s has transcended two millenniums, seven decades, time, space and multiple generations!
The door to the 1960s opened gently with 1950s-inspired holdover styles, such as rockabilly and doo-wop, evolved into Rock, Pop, Soul, Motown and R&amp;B, morphed into British Invasion, East and West Coast sounds, Bubblegum Pop, Folk-Rock, Protest songs, Country-Pop, Jazz-Rock and Hard Rock, and blew the door wide open, delving into Psychedelic Rock, Progressive Rock, and fledgling Heavy Metal sounds, while introducing the singer/songwriter concept, setting the stage for the 1970s and beyond. 
The neighborly atmosphere of the era, as well as variety shows such as &ldquo;The Ed Sullivan Show&rdquo;, graciously allowed &ldquo;room&rdquo; for every imaginable style of music.&nbsp;
Multiple genres of music often topped the charts at the same time...making the 1960s one of the most volatile, spectacular, experimental and creative musical decades of all time. 
The 1960s were a rare time where a classic crooner, a hard rocker, a Country-Western star, a Broadway singer, an Opera diva, and a Jazz artist could all coexist in harmony side-by-side on the charts!
There was an unspoken respect and camaraderie between artists of differing styles and genres which needs to be re-ignited today! 
The music of the 1960s remains the fabric of our lives till this day. Everywhere you go there is some relic of the 1960s still playing in the background.
