6 Stuck On Harry Potter Ride At Universal Studios

HOLLYWOOD, CA — An afternoon of roller coaster thrills turned a little too scary Wednesday when six people became stuck on a Wizarding World of Harry Potter ride at Universal Studios Hollywood.

Firefighters were able to remove all six passengers. The passengers were never trapped - just stuck, said Los Angeles County Fire Department Captain Chris Mangarin.

Crews were able to get all the stuck six off the ‘Flight Of The Hippogriff,’ said Mangarin. The fire department got the call for help at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, he said.

No injuries are reported in the incident.

Emergency crews and Universal Studios staff were working to determine what caused the glitch on the popular ride. By Wednesday afternoon, the ride was up and running again, a Universal Studios spokeswoman confirmed to Patch.

The ride is one of the new small roller coasters at the park.

Though Universal Studios does not report it’s attendance numbers, the theme park has boasted record ticket sales since opening the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, even reaching capacity for the first time in 2017. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti attributed a surge in tourism to the city, in part, to the steady investment of new attractions at the park, which most debuted a new “Jurassic World” ride earlier this month.
