'American Idol' Alum Mandisa Dead At 47: Reports
Mandisa had previously opened up about her battle with depression and suicidal thoughts which caused her to retreat from the public eye.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — American gospel and contemporary Christian singer and "American Idol" season five alum Mandisa has died, the K-LOVE radio station announced Friday. She was 47.
Multiple outlets report that she died at her home in the Nashville area on Thursday.
Her cause of death is not yet known, with Mandisa's team releasing a statement shared with multiple outlets including WKRN that they only ask for "prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time."

Mandisa, full name Mandisa Lynn Hundley, had previously opened up about her battle with depression and suicidal thoughts which caused her to retreat from the public eye.
She returned to the music scene in May 2017 with the release of her album, "Out of the Dark."

"Mandisa struggled, and she was vulnerable enough to share that with us, which helped us talk about our own struggles," K-Love Chief Media Officer wrote. " Mandisa’s struggles are over, she is with the God she sang about now. While we are saddened, Mandisa is home."
He added: "Mandisa loved Jesus, and she used her unusually extensive platform to talk about Him at every turn. Her kindness was epic, her smile electric, her voice massive, but it was no match for the size of her heart."
