Amid 'Severe' Blood Shortage, Red Cross To Give Away Super Bowl Tickets To Donors
The American Red Cross is facing a severe shortage of blood, according to the organization.
LOS ANGELES, CA — Amid a severe shortage of blood, the American Red Cross is encouraging people to donate blood — and offering a chance to win Super Bowl tickets for the good deed.
The Red Cross is "facing a severe blood shortage as requests from hospitals exceed the available supply, drawing down the blood supply by about 35% over the past month," the organization said.
The greatest need is for platelets and type O, A negative and B negative blood.
