Archbishop Gomez To Lead Peace Procession Through Hollywood

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Archbishop José H. Gomez will lead hundreds of faithful in a Eucharistic procession through the streets of Hollywood Wednesday as part of the National Day of Prayer for Peace, it was announced Tuesday.

The event will be held Wednesday at Blessed Sacrament Church, 6657 W. Sunset Blvd., with doors opening at 6 p.m. and a program beginning at 7 p.m., according to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. The procession is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m.

Gomez will hold a media availability at 6:30 p.m. with parish leaders and filmmakers involved with "Adore Him: He is Here," an upcoming film about Eucharistic adoration.

Deacon Steve Greco of the Diocese of Orange, a producer of the film, is also expected to participate in the procession.

The National Day of Prayer for Peace was introduced by U.S. Catholic bishops 10 years ago to encourage dialogue and reconciliation in communities facing heightened tensions, according to the archdiocese.

Participants are expected to walk for about 50 minutes before returning to the church for silent Eucharistic adoration.

Because of high temperatures, organizers urged participants to hydrate beforehand and said water will be provided. Seating will be available inside the church for people unable to complete the procession.

The film "Adore Him: He is Here" is scheduled to be shown in theaters nationwide Oct. 4-8.
