Bomb Squad Shuts Down Hollywood and Vine

A bomb squad was called in Friday afternoon to examine a suspicious item found near a fountain at the tourist area.

LOS ANGELES, CA — The area around Sunset and Vine was closed Friday afternoon while a bomb squad investigated a suspicious item.

A robot was brought on to examine the item. The item was discovered at about 1 p.m. near a fountain in the 1500 block of Vine Street near Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. The streets in the area remained closed until shortly after 3 p.m. when the bomb squad rendered the item safe, according to a report from the scene. Street closures were being lifted as of 3:30 p.m.
