'Curvy' Ladies Teach Hollywood Bouncer Lesson In Appearances: Report
It wasn't a good look for a Hollywood nightclub after the bouncer rejected two influencers for having "Thicker, curvy" figures.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — It wouldn't be the first time a Hollywood nightclub bouncer lorded his power over would-be clubbers.
But two models and social media influencers who were denied entry at a popular Hollywood nightclub after their slender friends were ushered inside, struck a win this week for dejected clubbers everywhere with a viral video taking the bouncer to task for body shaming women.
The incident occurred at the Highlight Room in Hollywood.

Halikas and friend Alexa Jay were told they couldn't follow their friends into the club.
“(Alexa) asked him ‘Hey what’s going on? I’m actually with that party you just let in,’ and he said, ‘I know,’ and looked her up and down and said, ‘Not tonight,’” Halikas , a swimsuit model told KTLA.

They appealed to a second bouncer but were denied entry, they said. In a post on Instagram accompanying a video about the incident, Ella Halikas shared her feelings about being dehumanized by the bouncer.
“We’re tired of playing safe. We’re tired of just letting this happen and not speaking up about it,” Halikas said in the video.
“It was so dehumanizing,” added Jay. “It was like we were being looked through. If you experienced any type of discrimination like this, you know exactly how horrible and disgusting it feels and we are no longer letting this fly."
The pair decided to use their influence on social media to speak up for others and speak out against clubs that reduce women to their appearance.
"I left that night in tears. Not for myself or being sad that I couldn’t get let into some club, but instead felt genuinely so sad for all the other girls that experience this all the time," Halikas wrote in a post with the Instagram video. "For the girls who don’t speak up and just ignore it, for the girl that was feeling sexy and confident going out to then get publicly humiliated in front of her peers when no one else is standing up for her, for the girls recovering from eating disorders to then getting their whole confidence shattered in the moment of seconds from a man at the door who decided she wasn’t good enough — that’s where my heart hurts."
The nightclub told KTLA, the bouncer actually worked for a third-party promotion company and is no longer working at the door.
"Our company does not tolerate discrimination of any kind. We are always appreciative of feedback on our operations and continue to work on how to improve our guest experience,” the company said in a statement to KTLA.
