HOLLYWOOD, CA — The 75th Emmy Awards, originally planned for September, is set to be postponed due to the ongoing actors' and writers' strikes, according to multiple reports.

Variety reported that vendors who planned to supply goods and services for the awards ceremony were recently informed by the Television Academy that the ceremony would not be taking place as planned. The New York Times reported that a new date has not been set, but it could be in January.

The Television Academy has not publicly announced a postponement, but last week released the following statement: “Like the rest of the industry, we hope there will be an equitable and timely resolution for all parties in the current guild negotiations. We continue to monitor the situation closely with our partners at Fox and will advise if and when there is an update available."

SAG-AFTRA joined the Writers Guild of America in a strike earlier this month as both unions face in impasse in contract negotiations with major studios.

Both unions have rules that prohibit members from promoting their shows or movies during the strike. That means they're prohibited from campaigning, a crucial part of the months before Emmys night. Additionally, WGA members are prohibited from writing jokes and monologues that would be used in the broadcast.
