SigAlert: Fallen Crane Blocks 101 Freeway

LOS ANGELES, CA —A five-ton crane fell from a construction vehicle, shutting down several lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway Friday morning.

The massive crane was blocking three lanes on the southbound side of the freeway at Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, according to the California Highway Patrol. Crews using heavy equipment have been sent to remove the crane.

The accident happened just before 8:30 a.m., and authorities estimate that it will take until afternoon to get the freeway cleared a the crane also spilled oil into the roadway.
