Fire Damages Home In Hollywood

One person taken to the hospital in the early-morning blaze.

HOLLYWOOD, CA – Fire crews extinguished a fire in a large, two-story home in Hollywood Thursday morning in just 38 minutes and rescued at least one person.

Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters were called at 1:09 a.m. to the 1000 block of North New Hampshire Avenue, according to Margaret Stewart of the Fire Department.

The first crews on the scene found the fire was primarily in the second floor and attic, she said.

A knockdown was declared at 1:47 a.m., Stewart said.

A man suffered smoke exposure and was transported to the hospital in fair condition, she said. Another patient was evaluated at the scene, but not taken to the hospital, said Stewart.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
