Firefighters Hold East Hollywood Apartment Fire To One Unit

The fire broke out at an apartment building on Oxford Avenue near Melrose and Western avenues Monday night.

HOLLYWOOD (CNS) - A fire at a two-story apartment building in East Hollywood Monday evening was limited to one first-floor unit.

The fire at 556 N. Oxford Ave., near Melrose and Western avenues, was reported at 7:50 p.m., according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department. Smoke was showing from the unit when firefighters arrived, Stewart said.

The fire was extinguished in 15 minutes by 28 firefighters with no reported injures, Stewart said.

The cause of the fire and amount of damages have not been determined, Stewart said.
