LOS ANGELES — "Game of Thrones," the HBO epic series that loves to kill off your favorite characters, will be back for one last season in 2019, the network announced Thursday. That means GOT diehards will have to wait until next year to see who takes the iron throne.
The network's biggest hit will air for six final episodes in 2019. The network has not announced when in 2019, the shows will air. Having already gone beyond the George R.R. Martin books that the series is based on, the final season will be written by David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, Bryan Cogman and Dave Hill.
Benioff, Weiss, David Nutter and Miguel Sapochnik will direct the new season. The executive producers will be Benioff, Weiss, Carolyn Strauss, Frank Doelger and Bernadette Caulfield. Co-executive producers will be Bryan Cogman, Guymon Casady, Vince Gerardis and George R.R. Martin.
