Hiker Reunited With His Dog After Being Rescued From Steep Hill Near Runyon Canyon

A 76-year-old man became stuck at the bottom of a steep hill near Runyon Canyon Park Sunday morning.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Firefighters rescued a 76-year-old man from the bottom of a steep hill Sunday morning after he was separated from his dog, became stuck and was bracing himself against a tree, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The man became stuck about 30 feet down the side of a steep hill west of Runyon Canyon Park. Firefighters the man at around 9 a.m.; the man's dog was safe on the trail above.

Firefighters used a two-line rope system to lower a rescuer down to the bottom of the hill and hoist the man up. The man declined treatment and was reunited with his dog, who was uninjured, according to the LAFD.
