Homeless Man Sentenced For Deadly Stabbing In Hollywood

LOS ANGELES, CA -- A homeless man was sentenced Wednesday to 28 years in state prison for the stabbing death of another transient during a run-in last year in Hollywood. Alex Conn Vasquez, 24, pleaded no contest Aug. 22 to voluntary manslaughter in the June 12, 2017, slaying of Jimmy Bradford, 47.

The two men got into an altercation near the Hollywood (101) Freeway and Hollywood Boulevard, and Vasquez stabbed Bradford twice in the back, according to testimony. He was arrested a day later after being identified by witnesses, and has remained behind bars without bail since then.

Along with the voluntary manslaughter charge, Vasquez admitted using a knife during the commission of the crime and having a prior conviction from 2014 for robbery.

He was initially charged with murder in connection with the slaying, but that charge was dismissed as a result of his plea.
