John Aniston, 'Days Of Our Lives' Icon, Dead At 89

'Days Of Our Lives' icon John Aniston passed away Friday, his daughter Jennifer Aniston confirmed Monday.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — John Aniston, who starred on the iconic soap opera 'Days Of Our Lives' for 37 years, passed away Friday, his daughter Jennifer Aniston shared in an Instagram post Monday. He was 89.

"You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace - and without pain," she wrote. "And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now."

John Aniston was born on July 24, 1933 in Crete, Greece, according to a biography provided by IMDb. He is best known for appearing on Days of Our Lives (1965), Search for Tomorrow (1951) and Journeyman (2007).

In 2017, his work on “Days of Our Lives” brought him an Emmy nomination for best supporting actor in a drama series. Earlier this year, he was presented a lifetime achievement Emmy, with Jennifer Aniston honoring him via video.

“It’s an opportunity to not only pay tribute to a true icon in the daytime television world, but it’s also a chance to recognize the lifelong achievements of a great and well-respected actor, who also happens to be my dad,” Jennifer Aniston said at the time. “John Aniston has been working in television consistently for over half a century.”

Aniston was married to Sherry Rooney since June 14, 1984. He was previously married to the late actress Nancy Dow, who passed away in 2016, with whom he shared one child, actress Jennifer Aniston.
