Martin Short's Daughter Dead At 42: Reports
Katherine Short, the 42-year-old daughter of comedian Martin Short, has died.
HOLLYWOOD, CA — Katherine Short, the 42-year-old daughter of comedian Martin Short, has died, according to reports.
Katherine Short died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The Los Angeles police and fire departments responded to her Hollywood Hills home on Monday at around 6:40 p.m. and found her dead, TMZ reported.
“It is with profound grief that we confirm the passing of Katherine Hartley Short,” a rep for Martin Short said in a statement to the Hollywood Reporter. “The Short family is devastated by this loss and asks for privacy at this time. Katherine was beloved by all and will be remembered for the light and joy she brought into the world.”

Katherine Short was the oldest of the three adopted children her father shared with his late wife Nancy Dolman, who died of cancer in 2010.

Katherine Short earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology and gender sexuality studies from NYU in 2006 and her master’s in social work from USC in 2010, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

She later worked at UCLA’s Resnick Neuropsychiatric Hospital and for the dual-diagnosis outpatient program Camden Center. She was involved in a charity called Bring Change 2 Mind, which aims to “empower young people to build connected, empathetic and supportive school communities where conversations about mental health are welcome and stigma-free," according to the publication.
