‘Power Rangers' Star Jason David Frank Dead At 49

Jason David Frank played the Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver on the 1990s series 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.'

Jason David Frank, who played the Green Power Ranger Tommy Oliver on the 1990s series 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers,' has died. He was 49.

Justine Hunt, Frank's manager, said in a statement Sunday that Frank died but did not share his cause of death.

"[We ask for] privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being," Hunt said.

“My heart is sad to have lost another member of our special family," Walter Emmanuel Jones, Frank's co-star and the original Black Power Ranger, wrote on Instagram. Thuy Trang, who played the original Yellow Power Ranger, died in a car accident in 2001 at age 27.

According to a biography provided by IMDb, Frank was born on September 4, 1973 in Covina, California, and died November 19 in Texas.

The biography states that Frank's 'Mighty Morphin Power Rangers' character was only intended to be in ten episodes, but due to his popularity, he morphed into other Power Rangers over the course of the series. He began as the Mighty Morphin Green Ranger, a bad boy turned good, and subsequently morphed into the Mighty Morphin White Ranger, Red Zeo, Red Turbo, and then returned in 2004 as the Black Dino Thunder Ranger.
