Stars Join Fundraiser For Entertainment Industry Workers

LOS ANGELES, CA — George Clooney, Hugh Jackman and Michael Douglas are among the celebrities set to participate a week from Friday in a virtual fundraiser to benefit the Motion Picture & Television Fund's COVID-19 emergency relief fund, which is providing support for entertainment industry workers during the pandemic.

"We All Play Our Part: A Benefit for MPTF" will be broadcast on the organization's YouTube page at 6 p.m. on May 15, with Yvette Nicole Brown and Tom Bergeron on board to host the one-hour event.

Also lined up to take part are Jodie Foster, Allison Janney, Ray Romano, Pierce Brosnan, Brad Garrett, Taye Diggs, Wanda Sykes, Frances Fisher, Joely Fisher, Kimberly Williams Paisley, Ken Jeong, Kris Jenner, Daisy Fuentes, Ming-Na Wen and Jeffrey Katzenberg.

Brad Paisley, Leslie Odom Jr., Richard Marx, Rachel Platten, Susanna Hoffs and Skyler Day are set to perform for the fundraiser, which organizers say will be a salute to Hollywood and the people who work behind the scenes.

"We see a need and we fill it," the fund's president and CEO, Bob Beitcher, said in a message to the industry. "Mary Pickford said this about MPTF in 1921 and it remains true today. MPTF remains fully committed to its mission of helping our entertainment community in their time of need. Today, we are all coming together to support those members of our industry workforce who are experiencing financial hardship due to COVID-19 related issues."

The fund supports working and retired members of the entertainment community with a safety net of health and social services, including temporary financial assistance, case management and residential living.
