Mom Gives Birth In SUV Near LA County Freeway Before Family Reaches Hospital
A woman gave birth near a freeway on-ramp, authorities said.
SAN DIMAS, CA — A woman gave birth to a baby girl inside an SUV near the 57 Freeway in San Dimas early Thursday after apparently being unable to make it to a hospital in time.
Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel were called at about 12:12 a.m. to the area of Via Verde Drive and the 57 Freeway for a possible childbirth, a department spokesperson said.
The baby's father called for help after his wife went into labor inside the vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Firefighters found the SUV stopped near the Via Verde on-ramp shortly after midnight, KTLA reported.
Video aired by the station showed the mother holding the newborn, who was wrapped in a blanket, as emergency personnel placed them on a stretcher and into an ambulance.

The mother and baby were taken to a local hospital for evaluation, according to KTLA. Their conditions were not immediately available.
