'Silicon Valley' Star Arrested on Battery Charge

HOLLYWOOD, CA — Comedian and "Silicon Valley" star T.J. Miller was arrested in Hollywood on battery charges Friday morning just two days before he’s scheduled to host the Critics’ Choice Awards.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a driver initiated a citizen's arrest of Miller, alleging battery.

Police were called to the 6900 block of Camrose Street in Hollywood where the driver insisted Miller be arrested, said Los Angeles Police Department Officer Jenny Houser. Miller was arrested and booked on suspicion of battery. Ultimately he was released on $20,000 bail with a misdemeanor battery ticket, Houser added.

The driver, who worked for a transportation company, did not suffer serious injury, added Houser. Police would not elaborate further on the nature of the scuffle.

However, TMZ is reporting that Miller slapped an Uber driver in the head after they argued about President-elect Donald Trump. The driver was reportedly giving a Miller a lift home from the GQ Men of the Year party.

In addition to staring in "Silicon Valley" Miller's appeared in "Deadpool" as well as "Office Christmas Party," which opens today.

Joey Berlin, the executive producer of the Critics Choice Awards, which will be held Sunday at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, told City News Service he had no immediate reaction to Miller's arrest.

"I just heard it happened. I don't have the details yet," Berlin said.

"My understanding is that he will still be hosting the Critics Choice Awards this Sunday," Berlin said. "It's not going to affect the show."
