Woman Run Over By Her Own Car In Hollywood Road Rage Incident

Police arrested the young woman's passenger after she allegedly fled the scene of the bizarre tragedy.

HOLLYWOOD, CA — A young mother died in Hollywood early Tuesday when she fell out of her car and was run over, possibly by her own passenger, according to police. Police are working to figure out just what happened, but authorities believe it started with a road rage incident.

Sophia Ardalan, a 26-year-old night club manager driving a Mercedes-Benz, had gotten into crash with a motorcyclist shortly after midnight in the 1300 block of North Martel Avenue, and that turned into an argument between the two drivers on the side of the road near Sunset Boulevard, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. The biker reportedly followed Ardala to her apartment, claiming the car rear-ended his bike, CBS Los Angeles reported. Ardalan and her passenger got back into the car after the argument, and Ardalan fell out.

“The car began to drive away. The driver was ejected, fell out of the car somehow, striking a tree,” LAPD Capt. Brian Wendling told reporters. "The passenger that was in the vehicle attempted to move the vehicle. The passenger has fled on foot ..."

According to authorities and witnesses, she ran over her friend as she was trying to move the car.
The passenger, a woman whose identity has not been released, was arrested by police shortly before 8 a.m., according to LAPD Officer Liseth Lomeli of the Media Relations office. Her name was not immediately available. Her name was not immediately available.

Ardalan, the mother of a four-year-old girl, died near the apartment she shared with her mother and child.
