CDFW OSPR Responds to Oil Spill in Huntington Beach Harbor - California Statewide Law Enforcement Association (cslea.com) — An oil spill in Huntington Beach Harbor on September 30 drew a coordinated response from the Coast Guard, state wildlife officials, and the Huntington Beach Fire Department after a 40-foot boat caught fire and sank in its slip. Crews deployed booms and absorbent pads to contain leaking diesel, activated federal cleanup funds, and report no injuries or wildlife impacts so far while the cause and exact spill amount remain under investigation.

Decision on Oct. 20 on 17% police mgt. salary raise (orangecountytribune.com) — Huntington Beach officials are weighing a three-year, 17% raise for police management, with a final City Council vote set for Oct. 20. The deal, retroactive to July 1, would cost nearly $1 million over three years and require an immediate $275,000 budget appropriation if approved.
