Oil spill cleanup underway after boat catches fire, sinks in Huntington Beach Harbor (nbclosangeles.com) — An oil spill cleanup is underway in Huntington Beach Harbor after a 40-foot pleasure boat caught fire at a residential dock and later sank, leaking diesel fuel into the water. Local firefighters, the Coast Guard, and state wildlife officials deployed booms and absorbent pads while activating federal spill funds. No injuries or wildlife impacts are reported yet, but the cause and exact fuel release remain under investigation.
   

3. Pacific Airshow takes flight for 10th anniversary in Huntington Beach (ocregister.com) — Huntington Beach residents can catch the 10th annual Pacific Airshow this weekend, with gates opening at 9 a.m. and performances from 10 a.m. to about 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. From the south side of the pier, you'll see the Thunderbirds, Snowbirds, military demo teams, and stunt pilots, with general admission tickets starting at $20 and premium options available.
   

4. Huntington Beach football pulls out victory over El Modena with late TD (ocregister.com) — Huntington Beach High School's Oilers stayed undefeated with a dramatic last-second touchdown at home, edging El Modena 24-21 in their Delta League opener. Quarterback Brady Edmunds and receiver Dylan Bruce again delivered in crunch time, capping a night of long drives, big defensive stands, and a controversial but game-winning catch that had both sidelines buzzing.
   

5. OCTA declares emergency for rail protection so able to act fast on sand replenishment, projects (ocregister.com) — Orange County transportation officials have declared an emergency to speed up rail and shoreline protection work in San Clemente, and they're eyeing offshore sand near Surfside-Sunset by Huntington Beach as a key source. Hundreds of thousands of cubic yards could be dredged and pumped ashore to protect vulnerable tracks before El Niño storms. The plan depends on permits, specialized dredging equipment, and already-secured state and federal funding.
