Arrests Made at Imperial Beach Checkpoint
The DUI/driver's license was conducted Friday night on Palm Avenue, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.

IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — Two arrests were made during a DUI/driver's license checkpoint held Friday night in Imperial Beach, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies set up the checkpoint in the 900 block of Palm Avenue from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday, according to sheriff's Sgt. Laura Spang.
Of the 1,025 vehicles that passed through the checkpoint, 800 were screened by deputies and 32 were sent to a secondary inspection, Spang said.

Five field sobriety tests resulted in the arrest of one motorist for suspected drunk driving and one for allegedly driving while on drugs. Five vehicles were impounded and 13 citations were issued for unlicensed driving, driving on a suspended license or without carrying a license, Spang said.
The checkpoint was made possible by a California Office of Traffic Safety grant.
