Art Kids Are Ready for Imperial Beach Women's Club Art Festival
The annual Imperial Beach Women's Club Festival of Arts is Feb. 21. The Art Kids of San Diego County are sponsored by the women's club

The Imperial Beach Women's Club is holding their annual Festival of Arts with the theme of Mardi Gras and The Art Kids of San Diego County are ready for the show.
With sculptures and paintings the kids have represented the theme of this year's show. Each year the Women's Club put on this event with great success as it allows the area artists to show their artistic stuff. The invitation is greatly appreciated as we have an opportunity to show the talents of the kids to the surrounding areas. The kids have done well each year by winning some blue ribbons for their efforts.
This year some 14 kids will be participating along with one super-sized art kid. That is one of the parents that is also counted in as an Art Kid, just super sized. This is the fourth year that the kids are participating in the event and enjoying the challenge each year to meet the theme of the show. One of the best representations came from our then two year old artist, Osmar Pete when he executed a wonderful painting of a banana doing a dance with a red cape. It was entitled, "Banana Ole' " and it took first place in the district.

The kids have created sculptured masks and very colorful paintings for this year's theme as one can see by the photo. The event begins today, Feb. 21 and many of the local women's club members will be represented at the event.
