Safe

Your eyes had me hypnotized

For just a moment

I’ve lived a life

As a wife

And a friend

But this is different

It’s all I thought was wrong

Jealousy, distrust

Tongue tied sometimes

I forget for a moment who

I am.  Knowing it is bad

To feel so good

And that we will  never be.

I was happy for 38 years

We shared

We cared

I never feared

I was loved and I was safe
