Teenager Shows Her Talent for Painting

A story about Vanessa Schnurer, one of the best artist in the South Bay area.

Watching this young artist is like listening to Mozart or enjoying the floor exercises at the Olympics.

17-year-old is a true professional artist.

Her works of art are indeed increasing in value and her skills are doing the same. She lives just outside Imperial Beach and attends Coronado High School where she is part of the Coronado School of the Arts after school.

Vanessa is also an Art Kid and has been one for eight years.

Her latest work will sell for $1,500 as soon as she has used it for her upcoming school assignment. She is to paint during her senior year at Coronado 25 pieces of art. One of her first to be finished is her painting, "Vanessa's Doors."

She puts her own style on this work of art and presents a incredible result. She finished the piece at The Art Kids of San Diego County new location in Chula Vista.

The members of the local gallery all agreed that she should set a price of $1,500 for the painting. I laughed though when she told me that she couldn't sell if yet because she needed it for her school project.

24 more to paint and she is finished with her senior project. Ahe admits she paints rather slow but I know that the waiting is worth it. Each piece she paints is better than the prior one.

As her instructor, I am waiting for the last one and then asking her for it as a present......of course of she sells it I'll take anyone one of her works.

Vanessa just returned from her journey to Italy where she put together a photographic history of her trip. She is planning to use some of those photos as subjects for her school assignment. She has already taken one of her photos and transfered it to canvas.

She presented this work of art to Thomas Mengelson considered the number one animal conservational photographer in the world.

She has for the past three years presented him with either one of her photographs or a piece of her art. They have become friends and hopefully some day she will work with him on one of his photographic safaris.

One may see her works at www.takosdc.com both paintings, drawings and photography at posted to this website.
