The Art of Crocheting Hats

Describes how Tawnya makes crocheting hats a real art instead of a craft

One may argue the point that crocheting is a craft. But in this case, Tawnya LaFave is what one would call a fiber artist. She creates hats but at the same time she places an artistic flair to her creations. Tawnya creates custom beanies and character hats which not only keep your head warm but presents the wearer with an incredible head decoration.

One can find Tanwya every Friday at the Farmer's Market in Imperial Beach. The market is located at the Pier Plaza. Her booth is located to the left of the stairs as one whould ascend the stairs to the shops located on the plaza. The Farmer's Market opens at 2:00 p.m. and closes down around 7:30 p.m.

Tawnya is able to crochet any size hat with great expertise. She can also create new designs for her clients. Something that she has already made takes about a week and something she has never created before takes about two weeks. As one can see by the photo, Tawnya has made a variety of hats that compliment the wearer. I, myself have purchased her creations and they do exactly what they are supposed to do. They keep my head warm, this is especially important if you do not have a great amount of hair, and they help you get noticed and complimented by complete strangers.

Tawnya has a website: www.ibcrochet.com and her e-mail is: ibcrochet@cox.net you can reach her either way. I am sure those who see her work would classify it as a real art.
