City of Imperial Beach Launches Twitter Account

The City of Imperial Beach launched its Twitter account Monday.

The account is run by the city's public relations firm J. Simms Agency and will be utilized in emergency situations and to inform people about news in Imperial Beach.

Talk of a Twitter account began , but a Twitter account was not launched until the city could adopt a social media policy, said Michelle Posada, assistant to City Manager Gary Brown.

A and weekly news updates were introduced in June.

A Facebook page and publishing video of City Council meetings on the city's website may be considered in the future, Posada said.
