Construction Crew Hits Gas Line In South Bay
Repairs underway at the site near Third Street in Chula Vista.

A construction crew digging up a parking lot in Chula Vista struck a large gas line this morning, which prompted authorities to close the roadway in the area.
The gas line beneath the parking lot at the former Kmart on Moss Street near Third Avenue ruptured shortly after 7:30 a.m., Chula Vista police Lt. Ken Heinz said.
No injuries were reported and no one was evacuated.

The 300 block of Moss Street was subsequently shut down. Heinz said crews expected to have repairs completed by 11 a.m.
