Coroner IDs Motorist Killed On SR 54

SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA – Authorities today publicly identified a driver killed when his SUV rolled off a freeway offramp near the border between Chula Vista and National City last weekend.

Savo Aitaro Williams, 37, apparently lost control of his Jeep on the transition from eastbound state Route 54 to Fourth Avenue shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol and the county Medical Examiner's Office.

The Valley Center resident was ejected when the SUV rolled down an embankment and died at the scene.

Witnesses told the CHP a reckless driver spun out before leaving the road.
