Don't Want to Miss the Bus? Send a Text Message
San Diego public transit users can now find out when their bus will arrive by sending a text message.

That annoying wait for a bus when you don't know when the next one is coming could be a thing of the past soon, as the Metropolitan Transit System launches a new real time notification system today.
Prospective riders will be able to find out how long it will be until the next bus arrives by texting their bus stop number to GoMTS at 46687.
The system, which will officially be unveiled at a 10 a.m. press conference, will only work on GPS equipped buses primarily in north and central San Diego, or for roughly 25 percent of bus routes. MTS officials said the system will be rolled out to eventually include all bus routes and trolleys.
