Eggs, Bacon and Politics at Candidates Forum Breakfast

The Imperial Beach Chamber of Commerce invited mayoral and City Council candidates to speak at its breakfast mixer last month.  

Each candidate was given five minutes to speak to the crowd of about 40 people in the Dempsey Holder Center at the lifeguard station.

Check out video from each of the candidates, excluding Robert Taylor, who arrived late, and Paul Brown, who did not attend.

The mayor and three of the five Imperial Beach City Council seats may change in the Nov. 2 election.

Mayor Jim Janney is looking for a second term and running against sea shell shop owner Mike Bibbey, pastry chef/chocolatier Jack Fisher and holistic health college owner Jennifer Welsh.

Tim O'Neal, Lorie Bragg, Ed Spriggs and Robert Taylor are running for two open seats on the council.

A special election is being held for the seat of Fred McLean, who died suddenly in May 2009. Brian Bilbray, 25, and Paul Brown, 30, will face off for the seat. The winner will serve two years in office.
