Firefighters Stop Small Brush Fire In South Bay

CHULA VISTA, CA -- Firefighters stopped the forward spread of a small brush fire in a riverbed on the south end of Chula Vista Wednesday. The fire broke out around noon at a homeless encampment near the 2300 block of Saivre Street, according to NBC San Diego.

With the helicopter retardant drops, firefighters halted the blaze's spread at 1.5 acres, the news stations reported.

No structures were believed to be threatened.
