GRACELAND: Season One

Jeri Jacquin

On DVD from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment comes GRACELAND: Season One on USA Network.

This series deals with FBI Agent Mike Warren (Aaron Tveit) fresh out of Quantico, draws the lucky card when assigned to beautiful Los Angeles. His partner is a legend in the bureau with Agent Paul Briggs (Daniel Sunjata).

He also meets DJ Jakes (Brandon Jay), Charlie DeMarco (Vanessa Ferlito), Johnny Tuturro (Manny Montana) and Paige Arkin (Serina Swan) to round out the group he will be working with.

In a beach house known as Graceland, agents from the DEA, FBI and ICE come together doing undercover work that test one another and the loyalty that doing a job like theirs brings.

FINAL WORD: It took me a moment or two to actually get into the series but that’s not a bad thing. That means I’m paying attention to characters and storylines because THAT is what will keep me focused.

Tveit as Mike “Levi” Warren is the perfect person for this role as he falls into the category of beautiful people of Southern California. This actor was last seen in the 2012 mega hit film LES MISERABLES. Here he gets the opportunity to step up his game in a role that requires twists and turns.

Sunjata as Briggs is a tough act to follow FBI wise. There are moments where I feel like he’s the babysitter of the group (I’m a Mom, I know that feeling) and other times the very stern Dad – but cool at the same time. Sunjata is no stranger to television playing Franco Rivera on the hit FX series RESCUE ME.

McLaren, Ferlito, Montana and Swan round out the beautiful people of the Graceland house. I’m very interested to know their stories as well and hope Season Two brings plenty of that to its storyline.

The DVD includes a three disc set with all twelve episodes from the first season. It also includes Deleted Scenes, a gag reel (which is always my favorite) and the behind-the-scenes THE REAL GRACELAND.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give GRACELAND: Season one three and a half tubs of popcorn out of five. It’s always cool to watch the first season of a show because it slowly unravels giving the viewer time to get to know each character. There are a few misses but plenty of hits while working out the kinks is always part of a new series. It makes its way into Season Two and that’s when the fun really begins.

In the end – when you are undercover, lies are your life!
