*Leapin Lizards!*

I woke at early, 5:30 a.m. (It's what old folks do.) I like early. It's peaceful. It's just God, me and the pitter patter of rain. The smell of cinnamon potpourri and fresh coffee filled the kitchen.
So this morning I let my old dog and my husband's new puppy out to go potty. After I made their breakfast I smiled at how cute they look. "Lovee", blonde (my girl) sported her pink sweater with a cupcake on her back and "Spooky", black (my husband's girl) sported her black sweater with a skull on her back. Like us, what a unique pair.
La-dee-da I savored a few sips of my heavenly coffee and I enjoyed the quiet. I ventured outside to see the dogs and take out the trash. I love the brisk morning air and the rain. I walked to the curb in the rain. It was fun. I hoped no one would wake and scold me for being in my nighty. The rain was cleansing and no neighbors were out.
I returned to the girls. Good no people were awake yet. I fluffed up the pillows in their dog houses. Ten-year-old "Lovee" was on top of the big dog house. "Five-month old "Spooky" was running around the yard like a ball in a pinball machine.
Half my body was in the big dog house as I searched for the blanket. I knew "Spooky" hid it some place, but where? As I fluffed the pillows (yes, I'm a dog freak) "Spooky" ran in to join me. She was right in my face. She's so cute. But, "AHH, O.M.G., WHAT IS IN HER MOUTH?"
In a split second my old eyes flashed, "Ew, she has a rat in her mouth and I have to get it out!" In a blink I noticed it wasn't a rat it was a very large lizard. I wasn't in the mood to touch a very large lizard. But not to touch it would mean "Spooky" would eat it and I'd see a suffering, bloody lizard and "Spooky" would get sick. 'DO IT CIN!"
My brain made my right hand open the puppy's mouth and grab that lizard creature and take it to safety. My eyes were big as saucers. O.M.G. am I really doing this? I'm a girly girl, I don't touch lizards.
As I stood in my nighty processing the scene, "Lovee" looked at me with her sweet brown eyes and smiled with her tail saying, "I'm your favorite, huh Mom?"
