Nearby Shooting Prompts Lockdown At Eastlake High School, Olympic View Elementary In Chula Vista
The shooting was reported just before 8:20 a.m. Friday at the Walgreens pharmacy at 1430 Eastlake Parkway, police said.

CHULA VISTA, CA – A non-injury shooting Friday morning at a pharmacy near Eastlake High School in Chula Vista prompted school officials to lockdown the high school and a nearby elementary school, but the lockdowns were lifted when officers arrested the suspect, police said.
The shooting was reported just before 8:20 a.m. Friday at the Walgreens pharmacy at 1430 Eastlake Parkway, less than a mile from the high school, Chula Vista police Capt. Eric Thunberg said.
Both the high school and Olympic View Elementary, about a mile away from the pharmacy, were placed on lockdown as a precaution.

"Our investigation found that the suspect tried to steal alcohol from the Walgreens," Thunberg said. "When employees prevented him from doing so, he exited the store, pulled out a handgun and fire a round back towards the store and fled."
No injuries were reported, and officers found the suspect and took him into custody "a short distance away," Thunberg said. He was found with a handgun when placed under arrest.
