I so enjoy being in Imperial Beach. Isn't this a great place to live?! In the four months I have been here serving as pastor of the United Methodist Church, I have had the opportunity to meet a number of people from the community.
I have met with City Council members, people running businesses and regular citizens. Every meeting has been a great one! I have met some great people! But I want to meet more. For example, I want to meet you!

The invitation to have coffee/tea/soda is still out there. I welcome the opportunity to sit down and listen to your life story and your experiences in this city. Your story helps me to better understand this fascinating community. And the coffee is on me!

As the pastor of a church committed to serving the community, I regularly get to meet individuals who are struggling financially and emotionally to keep their head above water. I meet people who come to the church at 455 Palm Avenue on Tuesdays and Thursdays seeking assistance with food through our food pantry. Another group of people I meet come on Saturday mornings seeking a shower, clean clothes and a hot breakfast. It is always my pleasure to meet these folks and hear a snippet of their life story. It's part of the story of this community.
Likewise, your story is also important. You have a part in this city's journey and its story. So, I want to sit with you and listen.
Being a product of the 1960’s, I grew up watching Sesame Street. From that children’s television program, a favorite song remains with me and plays through my head:
Oh, who are the people in your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
In your neighborhood?
Say, who are the people in your neighborhood?
The people that you meet each day.
It is the people of this neighborhood, of Imperial Beach I want to know better.
So, please take a moment. Email me. Tell me you have some time and would like to get together. And let's do it; have some coffee and talk.
