• Co-captain of boat that capsized off California coast, killing 5 migrants, sentenced to prison (mercurynews.com) — A federal judge has sentenced a co-captain involved in last year's deadly migrant boat capsizing off Imperial Beach to nearly five years in prison for smuggling that resulted in five deaths. Authorities describe how the panga launched from Rosarito, went adrift in fog, and ultimately flipped near Imperial Beach, where Border Patrol agents rescued survivors and later recovered the victims' bodies.
