• Imperial Beach coastline closed over sewage contamination (timesofsandiego.com) — Imperial Beach's shoreline is currently closed to all water contact after county health officials detected sewage contamination from the flowing Tijuana River, with bacteria levels exceeding state standards. Residents are urged to stay out of the ocean until testing confirms the water is safe; updates are available online and by phone. 
• A change at the top of San Diego Community Power but no reason given for CEO's departure (sandiegouniontribune.com) — Imperial Beach electricity customers served by San Diego Community Power will see a leadership change as CEO Karin Burns quietly departs after a leave, with no clear explanation offered. The agency, which supplies power across several local cities, says it will soon launch an open search for a new chief while promising continued progress on renewable energy and stable service.
• Governor signs Senator Padilla's Insurance Claims Reforms into law, setting a new standard for wildfire survivor protections (ca.gov) — Homeowners and renters in Imperial Beach could gain stronger protections after wildfires or other disasters under a new California law authored by Senator Steve Padilla. The measure speeds up insurance claim payments, increases penalties for unfair delays, and requires better coverage options and planning from insurers, with changes taking effect in 2027 for disaster survivors statewide.
