• Coronado challenges county in sewage water testing methods (thecoronadonews.com) — Imperial Beach beaches have faced far more closures since San Diego County adopted a newer, DNA-based sewage testing method that local leaders say may be overly sensitive. Coronado's mayor is pressing county health officials and the EPA for answers on why the old test was dropped and whether current thresholds are unnecessarily shutting down South County shorelines, including Imperial Beach.
