Police: At-Risk Imperial Beach-Area Man Found Safe

Imperial Beach, CA — An 81-year-old man who suffers from dementia and short-term memory loss was found safe Thursday night after he went missing from his home near Imperial Beach for more than three hours.

San Diego police alerted the media just after 11 p.m. Thursday, stating that Samuel Leroy Peebles had not been seen since 8 p.m. when he walked away from his residence in the 2100 block of Avenida Del Mexico in San Diego.

Police alerted the media again just before 11:40 p.m. to report that he was "located safe and sound."

Peebles, who does not drive and or know how to use public transportation, has gone missing in the past and was found at Mar Vista High School in Imperial Beach, according to police.
