The Glenn Miller Story is a 1954 American film about the American band leader Glenn Miller, starring James Stewart, June Allyson, Louis Armstrong, Gena Krupa, Frances Langford, Charles Drake and George Tobias. The Glenn Miller Story was directed by Anthony Mann. This is a wonderful story about the Big Band leader and if you like Big Band music, this is the movie for you. Sadly, in 1944 Glenn Miller died when the airplane he was flying in was lost over the English Channel during World War ll. Glenn Miller was loved for his Big Band Music. James Stewart one of the best actors in American history was the Chairman of The American Air Museum in Great Britain. He later asked movie star Charleton Heston to become Chairman of the Museum. Mr. Heston was an air force pilot during World War ll and he attended The 1997 Opening Ceremony of The American Air Museum in Great Britain. I was also invited by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth to attend the ceremony as the founding member. Those that also attended were Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip The Duke of Edinburgh and the Duke of Kent. I was invited to come back again to the rededication of the Museum by President George Bush Senior and Prince Charles The Prince of Wales. Charleton Heston remained the Chairman of The American Air Museum until his death on April 5, 2008.
